| Hailing
from the M.C.-rich yet untapped streets of Jacksonville,
Florida SWADE has been in the game of lyrical
artistry for over 10 years initially making
a name for himself with a local group known
as BROKEN CIPHER on the grinding streets of
Jacksonville, which is ruggedly called the gBangfem.h
Man handling the competition at local talent
shows and later selling over 2,000 copies of
their first CD, BROKEN CIPHER couldnft be stopped.
SWADE, along with the rest of his B.C. comrades,
was noticed by a local D.J. named gEAZY-Eh who
gave the group its fair share of play time on
the radio station. Continuing with this success,
the group began opening shows for main stream
artist like TOO SHORT, MASTER P, and SCARFACE.
The wave of success continued when B.C. was
hailed by a local promoter in New York and made
the trip north to perform at a fashion show
headlining as the featured act. B.C. put together
another piece of work and sold over 3,000 copies
of their next CD with sales spanning from Atlanta,
to South Carolina and of course Jacksonville.
However, other than a very close encounter with
TYE DASH, an A&R for Universal Records,
the group split due to the members various legal
problems. SWADE then carried his skills overseas
to Japan, a country very open to hip-hop culture
as a member of the United States Navy. Arriving
with no name for himself and a constant buzzing
of a certain MCfs name ringing heavy, SWADE
immediately sought out this so-called local
king, winning his very first MC battle at the
well known hip-hop club MATRIX in Yokohama,
Japan. Soon after SWADE along with three other
service members also stationed at Yokosuka Naval
Base; DWAYNE "H.Q." HASSELL, ANTONIO
"MAY DAY" ARRINGTON and ANTONIO "FRIZZL"
FRY, none being MCfs, founded DAVARCITI ENTERTAINMENT
(D.V.C.). With SWADE as the sole artist, DAVARCITI
ENTERTAINMENT took to the streets and using
their connections in the Japanese music and
low-rider scene sold countless CDfs and did
numerous performances with RODRICK MORRIS and
POSITIVE PRODUCTIONS building quite a following
in the process. As DAVARCITI ENTERTAINMENTfS
premiere artist SWADE CALIBURNUS composed and
recorded his first mixed CD under the Shield
gBLOCK POETRYh which set the standard for American
underground hip-hop in Japan. In April of 2004
DAVARCITI ENTERTAINMENT signed on with the production
team of JIMMY "J-TOHVAN" PASCHAL and
AUSTIN J. SAITO of MONIQUE RECORDS / PASCHAL-SAITO
PRODUCTIONS which will release SWADEfs debut
album gSWADE CALIBURNUS: LIVE, LOVE, PARTY &
RIDEh in June 2005. |
